HISTORY
- The National Orchestra and Choir of Samoa (NCOS) was founded in August 2007, under the direction of Ueta Solomona.
- The NCOS is based at the Music House in Vaivase and has hosted several visiting international musicians for training, workshops and performances.
- All musicians are volunteers who have an interest in playing in the orchestra and singing in the choir.
ROLES AND FUNCTIONS
- The mission of the Orchestra is to nurture and develop musical talent and perform Samoan and world music.
- It also offers training in all areas of music; instrumental and vocal.
- NCOS is also committed to assisting the wider community in providing training for Choral Directors, instrumental studies, vocal and choral training and programs for youth groups, Churches and schools.
- Training for musicians both for the orchestra and choir is an on-going program.
